Visa Launches Stablecoin-Linked Card Pilot Across Six Latin American Markets
Visa has partnered with Bridge, a Stripe subsidiary, to introduce stablecoin-enabled payment cards in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Chile. The pilot allows consumers to spend digital currency balances at any Visa-accepting merchant, signaling the payment giant’s strategic push into crypto-commerce.
The initiative follows Mastercard’s Monday announcement of its own stablecoin product, highlighting intensifying competition between traditional finance players in the digital asset space. Visa plans European, Asian and African expansions within months, suggesting this marks the beginning of a global rollout rather than a regional experiment.
